Paving for Bondurant's Building Boom

Asphalt paving in Bondurant follows one of the steepest growth curves in the metro. Bondurant was founded in 1884, named for first settler Alexander C. Bondurant, and incorporated in 1897. For most of a century it had a few hundred residents: 462 in 1970. Then it grew to 1,846 in 2000, 3,860 in 2010 and 7,365 in 2020, a 90.8 percent jump in one decade, with an estimated 9,465 by 2024. Most driveways in town are new.

New construction

With so much recent construction, settlement is the most common problem we see: dips near garages and cracks over utility trenches as backfill compacts. Fixing these early, by cutting out the low area and rebuilding the base, keeps water from getting in and making it worse.

Storm history

On July 19, 2018, an EF2 tornado struck Bondurant, lifting the entire second floor off one house. Storm cleanup brings heavy trucks and dumpsters that can crack driveways and break edges. Saw-cut repairs fix those areas without replacing the whole driveway.

Highway 65

Bondurant is served by US 65 and NE 78th Avenue, and DART Route 17. Businesses along the main roads need lots that drain and are clearly striped.

Extensions and pads

Young families add vehicles. We extend driveways and add pads on a base that matches the original.

Maintenance

New driveways are the cheapest to protect: fill cracks before winter and sealcoat after the asphalt cures, then every few years.

Our approach

We visit, measure and give you a written quote. If the work reaches the street, we confirm the city's requirements.

Neighborhood groups

In Bondurant's new subdivisions, many neighbors reach the same maintenance point at the same time. Pricing a street's sealcoating or crack filling together lowers the cost per home.

Schools

The Bondurant-Farrar Community School District has grown with the town. School lots and drives are best paved, sealed and striped in summer.

First-season care

New asphalt stays soft through the first summer. Avoid turning wheels in place, keep trailers off edges and use a board under kickstands. Most new driveways get their first sealcoat the next season.

Older town homes

Homes from Bondurant's small-town decades, when it had a few hundred residents, have older driveways that may need full replacement rather than another patch.
